The City of Wood River is located approximately 15 miles NE of downtown St. Louis and is an integral part of the River Bend region’s nearly 100,000 residents. The city provides a wealth of resources for residents in the form of services, recreation and tourism, economical housing and convenience.

As a full-service community, the city provides highly professional services via its Council-Manager form of government. The city employs 79 full-time staff members, operates a $13 million budget, provides water and sewer services, operates a 911 emergency service and maintains an ISO fire rating of 4.

Uniquely positioned at the southern entrance of America’s newest National Scenic Byway, Wood River is a dynamic tourism region attracting many visitors annually. The municipally owned and operated Aquatic Center is a $4 million water park that includes a four-story water slide, Olympic size pool and diving well. During its 15-week operating season, the Aquatic Center provides numerous water programs and events.

The city’s 18-hole championship public golf facility, Belk Park Golf Course, draws more then 50,000 visitors a year through numerous tournaments, stroke play, and special events. It has been recognized as one of the most popular public golf courses in the St. Louis Metro area. In addition, the course was the winner of Golf Digest’s “Places to Play 4 Star Awards.”
